GamesCultures.org for the future research network
December 9, 2007
Frans Mäyrä, DiGRA2007 International Advisory Board, had announced new site GamesCulture.org provided by International Study of Games Cultures (InGa) project. It says:
In the spirit of the recent “Situated Play” conference (DiGRA 2007), we propose a collaborative effort of collecting together research, observation and data about forms of play around the world.
We have more than 350 attendees from 29 counties in DiGRA2007 Tokyo. At DiGRA2007 we found that we have own unwritten history of game research in each environment — language, culture, school, and market.
In addition, we’d had a trouble to get enough reviewers before the conference. We’ll need more contributors in the future international conference. And now is the time to build a global network of game researchers.
Immediate Conference Report is published.
October 5, 2007
We just published the immediate conference report:
http://www.digra2007.jp/report.html
It is published in Japanese first, then translated in English. So some sentences need blush-up.
DiGRA2007 in the press
August 18, 2007
Mr. Kiyoshi Shin, a member of DiGRA2007 conference committee, wrote an article on the game related events including DiGRA2007 in this autumn.
The article is in Japanese and you may be use Japanese-English translation service in Google or Altavista. Raph Koster and other guest speakers at the co-located events are introduced.
A symposium on “virtual world, law, and economy” is held on July 21, Saturday in Tokyo(Information in Japanese). It is a kind of State of Play Conference, as Prof. Yamaguchi, one of the panelist said. Other panalists include a law professor Hideaki Shirata, economy leader Joi Ito, etc.
We will go to the symposium to promoto DiGRA2007 conference. As DiGRA Japan is so small to promote DiGRA2007 conference information but it has many friendship organizations, we have to visit other conference/agencies every week :-p.
